Global Street Art

Global Street Art is a London-based advertising agency specialising in hand-painted advertising and public murals.

During my six-week design internship, I was able to learn extensively about the mural painting industry, see ad agency communication and processes, work with amazing artists, and do some design projects of my own.

‘Killer Filler’ Murals

When GSA has walls that are not active with client work, they take the opportunity to do some self-advertising. I was tasked with creating pitches for these.

Pitch 1: Slow Down

This idea relies on the sentiment that street art makes passers-by slow down and enjoy the views, using typographic play to convey a simple truth.

Pitch 2: Tools and Trade

GSA has a unique, human-made approach. This idea invites the viewer into the process of GSA via tools and materials they use.

What else I learned….

  • pouncing mural templates is hard work

  • Shoreditch, London has an amazing street art scene

  • it’s not hard to dance 6 miles when listening to UK Garage music

  • community-based work is extremely rewarding

  • paint jams are intimidating, but everyone’s nice

  • country music transcends borders
